If you're new to the world of trade shows—or even if you've done a few but still feel like you're guessing your way through—one of the biggest questions you'll face is: What kind of booth should I get? The layout and format you go with can have a major impact on how people engage with your brand and how effective your presence is on the show floor.  

Let’s break down the most common booth types so you can walk into your next show confident and prepared. 

Inline Booths 

Inline booths are the most common starting point, especially for first-time exhibitors. These typically measure 10'x10' or 10'x20' and are arranged in a straight line with neighboring booths on both sides. Since they're only open on the front side, your back wall becomes your main canvas for grabbing attention. These booths are compact, cost-effective, and perfect for delivering a clean, professional message without going overboard on space or budget. 

Corner Booths 

Corner booths are just what they sound like—a spot at the end of an aisle offering in 10’x10’ spaces. Instead of being boxed in on both sides, you’ve got two open sides: the front and one side wall. If you’re aiming to grab a little more attention without jumping to a much bigger footprint, this is a solid move. 

Peninsula Booths
Peninsula booths, typically starting at 20'x20', are open on three sides and offer a more inviting, accessible layout. They’re a great choice for brands ready to level up with product demos or interactive experiences that draw people in from multiple angles. 

Island Booths

Island booths offer the most flexibility, with open access on all four sides and sizes starting at 20'x20'. Positioned away from walls, they allow for fully custom layouts and 360-degree visibility—ideal for big launches, interactive experiences, or brands looking to make a bold impact. 

Tabletop Displays
For smaller events or networking-focused shows, a tabletop setup can be all you need. These typically use a 6' or 8' table and offer a compact, approachable way to showcase your brand. Tabletop displays are lightweight, portable, and easy to set up—ideal for quick introductions, one-on-one conversations, or testing out a new event before committing to a larger booth.  

Perimeter Booths
Perimeter booths are positioned along the outer walls of the exhibit hall and usually come in 10'x10' or 10'x20' sizes. Because they’re against a wall, exhibitors are often allowed extra height (typically up to 12'), giving you more room for taller displays or shelving. With only one side open to foot traffic, they offer a quieter space ideal for businesses looking to host meetings or showcase products in a more intimate space.
